Meet Our Members

Maggie joined the Oratorio Society of Virginia in the fall of 2018, drawn in by the promise of tackling Brahms's Ein deutsches Requiem. A retired high school English teacher who grew up singing hymns beside her grandmother's piano in rural Tennessee, she counts the Verdi Requiem in 2022 and a deeply moving Mozart Requiem among her favorite performances with OSV. Beyond the Society, she enjoys gardening, hiking the Blue Ridge with her husband Tom and their rescue beagle Finley, and volunteering at the local literacy council. Her advice to anyone considering joining? "Don't wait — if you've ever loved singing, even just a little, come try a rehearsal."
