Carmina Burana
with Charlottesville Ballet - Choreography by Keith Lee
Journey with The Oratorio Society of Virginia and Charlottesville Ballet into Carmina Burana, an epic world of springtime, nature, love, revelry, and fate. Performed with dancers as Carl Orff originally envisioned, this powerful collaboration promises an unforgettable experience for Charlottesville audiences. Choreographed by Keith Lee and led by conductor Michael Slon, the production brings Orff's cinematic score to life through the combined artistry of dancers, live orchestra, soloists, and The Oratorio Society of Virginia's 110+ voice chorus. The program will also feature an excerpt from Keith Lee's Just Make Believe, a poignant work inspired in response to the Unite the Right rally events held in Charlottesville nearly ten years ago, during the summer of 2017. Through music and dance, the program reflects on the power of art to foster understanding, inspire hope, and bring communities together, reminding us that shared artistic experiences can transcend differences and strengthen the bonds that connect us.
Charlottesville Ballet is the region's professional ballet company, dedicated to enriching the community through exceptional performances, education, and outreach. Together, these organizations unite music, movement, and storytelling in a breathtaking celebration of artistic collaboration.
