Information For Singers

The Oratorio Society invites all interested singers to join us in performing John Rutter’s Requiem. The day will consist of a master class with Oratorio Society Music Director Michael Slon and the Oratorio Society chorus (mandatory for singers who wish to perform in the concert) at First Presbyterian Church from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, a brief warm-up at 3:00 pm, and a performance in the church sanctuary at 4:00 pm.

We welcome choirs as well as individual singers from our community. We ask participating singers to prepare the work in advance. High school students who are recommended by their choral teachers (and confirmed by them to have learned the music) are welcome to join.

Rutter’s Requiem is published by Oxford University Press. Community singers can bring their own scores if they have them, or purchase them online.

Singers may also find Cyberbass (http://www.cyberbass.com), which provides interactive midi files by voice part, to be useful in learning their parts — see links at the bottom of this page.

In order to make this event accessible to everyone, attire for those singing will be:

If you enjoy singing but doubt your ability to read the music, learn the music in advance, or participate in a full day of singing, you might prefer to join the audience and enjoy the occasion that way. To purchase concert tickets, click here.

We want to make this a joyful gathering of our area’s voices. Please join us!
