2011 — 2012 Season
Celebrate the gift of music with the Oratorio Society of Virginia! Join us for our exciting 2011 — 2012 season as we welcome newly appointed Conductor Michael Slon to our podium. After 11 years of fine leadership under the baton of Maestro Lance Vining, the Oratorio Society is poised for continued growth and a bright future as we seek a new permanent music director to be named for the 2012 — 2013 season.
Michael Slon is well known to Charlottesville audiences as Conductor of the University Singers and the UVA Chamber Singers, and as a professor on the music faculty at the University of Virginia. He has also served as Guest Conductor of the Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra. During this season of transition, Maestro Slon leads the Oratorio Society chorus and orchestra in three exciting concerts featuring music that will dazzle the ear and move the heart. From the sparkle of John Rutter's Gloria and other holiday music in December, to the vigor and radiance of Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass in March, to the depth and grace of the Fauré Requiem in May, there is something for every lover of great music this season.
We hope you will be with us!
