A Jubilant Song

Like the works of Randall Thompson, A Jubilant Song was commissioned, in this case by the High School of Music and Art in New York City.
Mr. Dello Joio, at 88, commented on the rhythmic piece based on Walt Whitman's poetry saying ''the first choral piece I ever wrote and I had to play the piano piece at the premiere because it was so difficult.''
